Open Pit Mine Collapsed In China

News: Recently, an open pit mine in China’s northern Inner Mongolia area collapsed, killing at least two individuals and leaving more than 50 people unaccounted for.

Open-pit mining, sometimes referred to as opencast mining, is a surface mining method that removes minerals from the earth through an exposed pit.

The most popular technique for mining minerals is one that does not involve extractive techniques or

When mineral ore resources are located very close to the earth’s surface and are covered by relatively thin layers of vegetation, topsoil, and rock, this extraction technique is ideal (collectively called overburden).

It forms an open pit that resembles an inverted pyramid by using a sequence of level surfaces or benches to access the deposit.

Open-pit mines grow continuously until all available mineral resources are used up.

Open-pit mining accounts for the majority of the annual production of copper, gold, and iron ore worldwide.

Diamonds, molybdenum, manganese, lead and zinc, uranium, and a range of industrial minerals, such as borates, talc, etc. are some of the other commodities produced by open-pit mining.

Compared to other mining techniques, open-pit mining is more productive, costs less to operate, and is generally safer.
