Major Types of Agro–based Industries

  • Food Processing Industries: These industries are in­volved in the processing and transformation of agricul­tural products into various food items, such as rice mill­ing, flour milling, sugar refining, and edible oil extraction.
  • Beverage Industries: These include the production of beverages like fruit juices, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages, using fruits and grains as raw materials.
  • Dairy Industries: These industries process milk and milk products to produce items such as milk, cheese, yogurt, and butter.
  • Sugar Industry: Sugar mills process sugarcane or sugar beets to extract sugar and produce various sugar-based products.
  • Cotton and Textile Industry: Cotton is a primary agri­cultural product used in the textile industry to manufac­ture fabrics, clothing, and other textile products.
