NIA ARRESTS IMPHAL SUSPECT FOR ‘WAGING WAR’ AGAINST INDIA

Why in the news?

  • The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Thong Minthang Haokip at Imphal Airport.
  • Haokip is accused of involvement in a transnational conspiracy to “wage war” against India.
  • The case, registered in July last year, links terror outfits based in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
