About the Reforms:
- Long delays, often due to weather or technical issues, have led to passengers being confined within aircraft for up to 12 hours.
- The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) introduces new standard operating protocols (SOPs) for airports and airlines to address this issue.
- Passengers who have deplaned can now undergo security checks at the boarding gate itself, rather than returning to the arrivals section and re-entering security queues.
