About NCLAT’s Directive:

  • The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) instructed Google and the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to respond to petitions regarding the Play Store billing policy.
  • A two-member bench set a deadline of one week for filing replies and any counter replies, scheduling the next hearing for May 24.
  • This direction follows petitions filed by various entities including the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), India Digital Media Industry Foundation, People Interactive India, and Kuku FM operator, challenging the billing policy without interim relief granted.
