National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22
News: The “National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22: Summary for Policymakers” was published by the secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Science & Technology).
The National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) was conducted in conjunction with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
The survey’s objective is to assess how well Indian manufacturing companies innovate.
It had two distinct elements:
Organisational survey: It gathered information on the different sorts of inventions and the innovative steps businesses took, as well as information on the innovation process, access to funding, resources, and knowledge, among other things.
Survey on the Sectoral System of Innovation (SSI): It depicted the manufacturing innovation system and its facilitation of innovations in businesses.
The SSI study evaluated whether present policy tools were converging or diverging in a subset of five main manufacturing sectors that are crucial to the Indian economy: textiles, food & beverage, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and ICT.
2011 saw the launch of the inaugural National Innovation Survey.
