National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023
News: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 was announced by the state minister responsible for education.
NIRF 2023 highlights include:
Indian Institute of Technology Madras maintains its top spot in the engineering and overall categories.
The Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru came out on top in both the research institutions and universities categories.
IIM Ahmedabad continues to hold the top spot in the Management subject.
The top position in medicine is held by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
Bengaluru’s National Law School continues to hold the top spot.
The leader in the category of Agriculture and Allied Sectors is the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.
The following three changes have been made to the India Rankings for 2023:
the introduction of a new subject, agriculture and related industries.
To lessen the burden on institutions of submitting the same data to two distinct agencies, the “Innovation” rating previously carried out by the Atal rating of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) has been integrated into the India Rankings.
expanding the definition of “architecture” to include institutions that teach courses in urban and town planning.
With its inclusion, India Rankings’ current portfolio now includes 13 categories and subject domains that have been ranked for India Rankings 2023.
It ranks 8 topic domains, including engineering, management, pharmacy, architecture & planning, medical, law, dental, agriculture, and allied sectors, as well as the overall rankings for universities, colleges, research institutions, and innovation.
The NIRF identifies five major groups of parameters: Research and professional practise, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusion and perception, teaching, learning, and resources (TLR).
