News: Data consumption, data security, data accessibility, and data integrity are all managed through data governance. The GoI will launch the National Governance Policy, the finance minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman stated during the presentation of the Union Budget 2023. An Indian Data Management Office will be established thanks to the policy. The IT Ministry will oversee the IDMO’s operations. The Indian government will introduce a measure to expand secure access to anonymised data.
- The measure will make more important data more readily available.
- By making more accessible, secure, and authentic data available, it will raise citizens’ awareness.
- Expand overall compliance
- Increasing the public’s involvement
- Internet data sharing that is secure
- simplify privacy regulations
Objective
- The policy’s major objective is to secure the data and make it accessible to local startups. Almost all new government initiatives included in the 2023 budget centre on entrepreneurship.
- The first step toward digital government is the National Data Governance Policy. The policy gives the GoI more power in decision-making. Standards for data privacy can be raised. Standards for data protection need to be raised.
- Anonymized data refers to sensitive information that requires additional security. By using data anonymization, personally identifiable information is eliminated. Using AADHAR as an example. The citizen’s name, birthdate, and address are all stored by GoI in AADHAR. Only Infosys should have access to these data. because GoI contracted Infosys to develop the software needed to implement Aadhar. Hackers won’t be able to determine the correct details of the citizen if the data is anonymised. And only the party who is interested will be given access to the information.
