Mission Vatsalya:

News: The NIPCCD Regional Centre in Mohali hosted a Refresher Training Programme on Mission Vatsalya from May 29–31, 2023.

A road map for achieving development and child protection priorities that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is called the Mission Vatsalya Scheme.

With the motto “leave no child behind,” it places a strong emphasis on children’s rights, advocacy, and awareness as well as on enhancing the juvenile justice care and protection system.

The provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 provide the fundamental basis for carrying out the Mission.

Components of Mission Vatsalya include: strengthening service delivery systems, upgrading institutional care and services, encouraging community-based care outside of institutions, emergency outreach services, and training and capacity building.

Since 2021–2022, the Scheme has been implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development serves as the nodal ministry.
