- Indian Navy and Indian Air Force conducted a joint operation resulting in the surrender of 35 pirates and rescue of 17 crew members from the hijacked MV Ruen.
- The operation lasted over 40 hours and involved strategic manoeuvres by both forces to neutralise the pirates and secure the vessel.
- Key actions included the IAF’s precision airdrop of Combat Rubberised Raiding Craft (CRRC) boats and Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and INS Kolkata’s disabling of the pirate ship’s steering system.
