Maiden Cross-Border Oil Pipeline : India-Bangladesh
News: The first cross-border oil pipeline between India and Bangladesh will be opened by the prime ministers of both nations.
The India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline (IBFPL) would transport diesel from the Parbatipur depot of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation to the Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL) marketing terminal in Siliguri, West Bengal, which is situated in Assam (BPC).
IBFPL has a total length of 5 kilometres, of which 126.5 kilometres are in Bangladesh and 5 kilometres are in India.
The pipeline can transport one million metric tonnes annually (MMTPA).
The IBFPL’s construction would cost a total of Rs 377.08 crore.
The project is being constructed using grant funding from the Indian government.
