About Rise in Mothers’ Education Levels:
- School enrollment has significantly increased since the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in 2001.
- Mothers with children aged 4-8 have higher education levels; 60% studied beyond Grade 5 by 2022.
- States like Kerala and Himachal Pradesh show high percentages of mothers with education beyond Grade 10.
- Despite higher education, female labour force participation remains low (37.3% overall, 24.5% for ages 15-29).
About National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat Mission :
- Launch: July 2021
- Aim: Achieve foundational literacy and numeracy by Grade 3 by 2026-27
- Scope: Children aged 3 to 9 years, preschool to Grade 3
- Implementation: Five-tier mechanism under Samagra Shiksha, led by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education
- Support: Additional help for Grades 4 and 5 lacking foundational skills
About Samagra Shiksha Scheme:
- Integrated Scheme: Covers pre-primary to senior secondary (up to class 12th).
- Centrally Sponsored: Supports goals of AtmaNirbhar Bharat.
- Aims:
- Universalize access to school education.
- Promote equity by including disadvantaged groups.
- Improve education quality at all levels.
- Implement SDG 4, Right to Education, and NEP inclusively.
Key Initiatives:
- PM e-VIDYA: Digital education platform.
- MANODARPAN: Psychosocial support for mental health.
- Mid-Day-Meal (MDM): Nutritional support for Classes I-VIII.
- Padhna Likhna Abhiyan: Adult literacy program.
- RUSA: Funding for State Government Universities and colleges.
- NISHTHA: Integrated teacher training program.
