LaQshya Programme

News: The LaQshya Program was explained to the Lok Sabha by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.

It seeks to guarantee Quality of Care in the labour room and maternity operation theatre during the intrapartum and immediately post-partum periods.

It includes all Government Medical College Hospitals, District Hospitals, and equivalent medical institutions, as well as High Case Load CHCs and Designated FRUs.

The objective is to guarantee respectful maternity care while reducing avoidable maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity, and stillbirths linked to the care provided during delivery in labour rooms and maternity OT.

A facility-level goal under LaQshya is to attain a surgical site infection rate in maternity OT of 5% or less, or at the very least a reduction of 30% from the baseline.

The independent empanelled NQAS assessors check for compliance with the aforementioned requirement at the moment of LaQshya certification.
