News: The President went to Kerala to celebrate Kudumbashree and events related to Project Unnati.
In May 1998, Kudumbashree, the Kerala State Poverty Eradication Mission, was established.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the prime minister, gave it its official opening.
Objective: To completely eradicate poverty within a time frame of ten years, under the direction of Local Self Governments established and given authority by the 73rd and 74th Amendments to the Indian Constitution.

With the Government of India and NABARD’s active assistance, the State Government launched it.
