- The Karnataka Forest Department launched the Garudakshi portal, an online FIR system to address forest-related crimes such as encroachments, illegal tree-felling, poaching, and unauthorized forest entry.
- Initially implemented on a pilot basis in Bengaluru Urban, Bhadravathi, Sirsi, and Male Mahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary divisions.
- Once fully operational, registering forest-related FIRs through the portal will be mandatory.
