- In the world record-breaking men’s air rifle shooting final, Indian Olympian Divyasnsh Singh Panwar won gold, and in the women’s 10-meter event, Sonam Uttam Maskar, competing in her first International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup, took home silver in Cairo on January 28, 2024;
- The Chinese athlete Sheng Lihao, who shot 253.3 at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year, was surpassed by the 21-year-old with a 253.7;
- After three days of competition, India has secured the top spot in the season-opening World Cup stage, having won two gold and three silver medals;
- This marked Divyansh’s second individual gold medal at the World Cup, and his fifth overall after his 2019 performance in Putian.
About ISSF
- The International Shooting Sport Federation, which goes by the abbreviation ISSF, is in charge of overseeing a number of non-Olympic shooting sports events as well as the Olympic shooting sports in the disciplines of rifle, pistol, and shotgun;

- India – Egypt Relation:
- India and Egypt are two of the oldest civilizations in the world, and their interactions date back to the Emperor Ashoka’s reign and the edicts of Ashoka speak of his interactions with Egypt during Ptolemy II;
- The modern-day Egyptian revolutionarys Saad Zaghloul and Mahatma Gandhi both aspired to be free of British colonial rule;
- On August 18, 1947, both parties jointly announced the opening of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level;
- A friendship treaty was signed in 1955 between Egypt and India and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was founded in 1961 by Ghana, Indonesia, Yugoslavia, and Egypt;
- Trade between the two nation:
- India and Egypt had USD 6,061 million in trade in 2022–2023—a 17% decrease from the previous year and Petroleum accounted for almost one-third of it;
- In terms of trade, Egypt ranked 38th in the world in 2022–2023 while India ranked sixth;
- A total of USD 3.15 billion in 50 projects comprise Indian investments in Egypt and approximately 37 million USD have been invested by Egypt in India.
