INS Teg, an Indian Navy ship from the western fleet, has reached Mauritius for a joint surveillance mission of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) with the Mauritius Coast Guard. The ship will also mark International Yoga Day with collaborative activities on June 21, showcasing India’s commitment to cultural diplomacy.
About INS Teg’s Deployment in the Indian Ocean:
- INS Teg, a Talwar-class stealth frigate, arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius for a joint maritime surveillance operation, strengthening bilateral relations and maritime cooperation between the two nations.
- The mission focuses on monitoring and securing the Mauritian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), with a specific emphasis on EEZ surveillance to enhance maritime security cooperation.
- The deployment is part of India’s Operational Deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, scheduled till June 22, 2025, demonstrating India’s role as a net security provider in the region.
- The collaboration highlights India’s commitment to maritime security and regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean, fostering a strategic maritime outreach.
Strategic and Cultural Engagements
- During the port call, the Indian Navy, led by the ship’s commanding officer, will conduct professional and social engagements with the Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG), enhancing cooperative maritime security.

Observance of International Yoga Day:
- On June 21, a Joint Yoga Session will be held onboard INS Teg to celebrate International Day of Yoga 2025, promoting holistic well-being.

○ Indian diaspora in Mauritius
