- In 2022, 12.5 million children aged 5 to 19 were grossly overweight, a drastic increase from 0.4 million in 1990.
- Obesity prevalence among children and teens surged by over three percentage points since 1990.
- Obesity is also a growing concern among adults, especially women, with a 9.8% prevalence rate.
