About Indian History Congress(IHC):
- Established :
Established in 1935, IHC is South Asia’s premier association for professional historians.
- Genesis :
The Indian History Congress originated from the All India Congress organized by BISM in 1935 to celebrate its silver jubilee in Pune.
- History :
With around 50 delegates initially, it emerged from the Bharata Itihasa Samshodhaka Mandala founded by Vishwanath Kashinath Rajwade in 1910, supported by K C Mehendale.
- Goal :
IHC’s primary goal is to foster the secular and scientific documentation of history.
- Boasting approximately 35,000 members, it draws over 2,000 delegates to its annual sessions.
- It has published proceedings annually since 1935, contributing to the dissemination of historical research.
