India-US Conduct 4th Edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph
Why in the News ?
The 4th edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph has begun in Visakhapatnam, focusing on bilateral Tri-Service HADR operations. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, establish SOPs, and strengthen disaster response capabilities between Indian and US forces.
About the Exercise Tiger Triumph:
- The 4th edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph, a bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise between India and the US, has commenced in Visakhapatnam.
- The Harbour Phase begins on April 1st , 2025 and continues until 7th April 2025 with an Opening Ceremony and joint Flag Parade aboard INS Jalashwa.
- The exercise will conclude on 13th April 2025 with a Closing Ceremony aboard the US Navy Ship Comstock.
Objectives and Scope of the Exercise:
- The exercise aims to enhance interoperability for HADR operations and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for setting up a Combined Coordination Center (CCC).
- Joint Task Forces (JTF) from both nations will focus on rapid and effective coordination during crises or contingencies.
- Activities include Training Visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, Sports Events, and Social Interactions during the Harbour Phase.
- The Sea Phase will involve Maritime, Amphibious, and HADR operations off the coast of Kakinada.
Forces and Assets Participating in the Exercise:
- India is represented by INS Jalashwa, Gharial, Mumbai, Shakti with integral helicopters, landing crafts, Long-Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I, Army Troops from 91 Inf Brigade and 12 Mech Infantry Battalion, Air Force C-130 Aircraft, MI-17 Helicopters, and Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT).
- United States is represented by US Navy Ships Comstock and Ralph Johnson with troops from the US Marine Division.
- The exercise reinforces the India-US strategic partnership and improves disaster response capabilities.
