- William Samoei Ruto, the president of Kenya, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting in New Delhi this afternoon.
- Following the talks, five Memorandums of Understanding were exchanged covering a variety of topics, including sports, IT, and education.

● A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed few month back for joint shipbuilding in between Kenya and India. ● The agreement is centered on cooperation and capacity building in ship design and construction and through this Kenya wants to improve its maritime capabilities in the Indian Ocean region. ● Between Kenya Shipyard Limited, a government-backed company, and India’s state-owned Goa Shipyard Limited, an MoU was signed. ● The deal will enable Kenya Shipyard Limited to establish itself as one of Africa’s leading shipbuilding technology anchor companies. Recent Happening 2 ● India recently handed over 100 nautical charts to Kenya, the result of a collaborative survey of the coastal area near the Lamu Archipelago by the navies of both countries. ● The National Hydrography Office of the Indian Navy carried out the survey from India. ● Lamu archipelago is a world heritage site (UNESCO) and located in the Indian ocean near the north coast of Kenya. NOTE: ● India ranks as the 16th largest maritime nation worldwide. There are roughly 200 minor ports and 12 major ports in India. ● Kenya’s southeast is bounded by the Indian Ocean. Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda are its neighbors. |
