- ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket.
- It is organized by the sport’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), every four years.
History
- The first World Cup was organised in England in June 1975, with the first ODI cricket match having been played only four years earlier.
- The West Indies won the inaugural tournament, defeating Australia in the final.
- Since then, the tournament has been held every four years, with the exception of 1979, when it was not held due to logistical difficulties.

- Introduction of Day-Night Matches: The 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand witnessed day-night matches, transforming the tournament’s dynamics.
