National Family Health Survey (NFHS) · The NFHS is a comprehensive survey conducted nationwide, involves multiple rounds and sampled households across India. · Overseen by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) in Mumbai serves as the coordinating agency, partnering with various Field Organizations for survey execution. Sample Registration System (SRS) · The Sample Registration System (SRS) offers annual demographic estimates like infant mortality rate, birth rate, and death rate at national and sub-national levels. · Launched as a pilot project by the Registrar General of India in 1964-65, it expanded nationwide by 1969-70. · It involves continuous tracking of births and deaths by part-time enumerators and biannual retrospective surveys by SRS supervisors. |
