- The government granted approval for the PRITHVI initiative, aimed at enhancing flexibility in earth sciences research and optimizing funds over a five-year span.

About PRITHVI initiative :
- The Scheme is Known as PRITHvi VIgyan (PRITHVI) initiative.
- Objectives:
- Strengthen Earth monitoring.
- Develop advanced weather models.
- Explore polar regions and high seas.
- Innovate sustainable oceanic tech.
- Ministry Associated : Ministry of Earth Sciences
- Funding: Rs 4,797 crore at its disposal .
- The scheme encompasses five ongoing sub-schemes namely
- “Atmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services (ACROSS)”,
- “Ocean Services, Modelling Application, Resources and Technology (O-SMART)”,
- “Polar Science and Cryosphere Research (PACER)”,
- “Seismology and Geosciences (SAGE)” and
- “Research, Education, Training and Outreach (REACHOUT)”.
