Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) 2021

News: Based on the standard of 184 global economies’ infrastructure, the Global Quality Index Infrastructure was published. India came in fifth place. BIS deserves credit for the standardisation ranking, which was at the ninth position. The metrology system received a 21st-place ranking, and NPL-CSIR is given credit. The Quality Council of India takes delight in pushing India to the top of the list since it maintains the country’s generally high infrastructure quality.

 

  • Top of the list was Germany. China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and France came in second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively. On the basis of standards, metrology, and accreditation, the rankings are determined.
  • The QCI is the foundation of Indian trade abroad. India is winning the confidence of its international partners, as evidenced by the council getting a high rating on the global scale. Other national organisations run by QCI include BIS, NPL-CSIR, etc. They all serve as the National Accreditation System’s caretakers.
  • It was started by DPIIT in 1997. The NABCB and NABL are the two main boards of QCI. National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies is known as NABCB. For testing and calibration laboratories, there is a national accreditation body called NABL.
