Why in the news?
- General Upendra Dwivedi became the 30th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) on Sunday, succeeding General Manoj Pande.
- The transition also led to several other senior appointments, including the new Vice-Chief of the Army Staff and several Army Commanders.
