News: The Gender Social Norms Index (GSNI) 2023 was produced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Gender Social Norms Index (GSNI) 2023 measures biases against women by enumerating how people feel about the roles that women play.

It examined how people felt about women in four areas: politics, education, the economy, and physical integrity.

Nearly 9 out of 10 men and women, or 85% of the world’s population, exhibit fundamental biases against women, according to the score.

25% of people think it is acceptable for a man to hit his wife, and over 90% of individuals still have at least one bias towards women.

There are fewer women in parliament in nations with more biassed gender societal norms.

Lack of political representation for women of colour, immigrants, and those with disabilities shows how overlapping biases can further limit chances for women.

Better economic results and opportunities for women have not resulted from the recent rise in educational achievement.
