About Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary:

  • Location: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Kerala and is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
  • Adjacent Reserves: It borders the tiger reserves of Nagarhole and Bandipur in Karnataka, and Madhumalai in TamilNadu.
  • River: The Kabini River, a tributary of the Kaveri River, flows through the sanctuary.
  • Flora: The sanctuary features moist deciduous forests, West Coast semi-evergreen forests, and plantations of teak, eucalyptus, and Grewelia.
  • Fauna: Wildlife includes elephants, gaurs, tigers, panthers, sambar deer, spotted deer, barking deer, wild boar, sloth bears, and Nilgiri langurs.
