FCRA REGISTRATIONS CANCELLATION
Why in the News?
- The FCRA registrations of prominent NGOs, Centre for Policy Research (CPR) and World Vision India (WVI), were cancelled this month.
- Due to the pandemic and 2020 FCRA amendments, NGOs had renewal relief until March 31, 2024.
About Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) and Regulations:
- FCRA, enacted in 1976 during the Emergency, aims to regulate foreign donations to prevent interference by foreign powers.

- Registration is valid for five years and must be renewed.
