Face Recognition & Aadhaar in PM-Kisan scheme
News:
- To guarantee transparency in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-Kisan), the government has implemented face recognition and Aadhaar identification based eKYC of farmers.
- Reason for such implementation: Numerous fraudulent applications have been made in order to obtain funds under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi program and a new eKYC was launched in order to guarantee good governance and transparency in direct benefit transfers to farmers.
- Under the PM-KISAN program, the Indian government has given more than 11 crore farmers payments totaling over 2.60 lakh crore rupees.
PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme:
● It was introduced on February 24, 2019, to help land-holding farmers with their financial needs. ● The financial benefit of Rs 6000/- per year in three equal installments, every four month is transferred into the bank accounts of farmers’ families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. ● The scheme was initially meant for Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) having landholding upto 2 hectares but scope of the scheme was extended to cover all landholding farmers. |
