Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket

News: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO)’s two Pune-based laboratories designed the Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ER-ASR), which recently had its first successful test-firing.

The Pune-based Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory created the Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ER-ASR). (HEMRL).

At particular depths, it is intended to intercept submarines.

It will be used in anti-submarine warfare and launched from a locally developed rocket launcher placed on a variety of Indian naval ships.

Depending on the tactical mission needs, it can fire in single or salvo mode.

It was created to take the place of the ship-mounted RGB rockets of Russian origin that are currently in use.

The ER-ASR can have a range of nearly eight kilometers, whilst the RGB has a range of only five kilometres.

It has two motor propulsion systems that allow the rocket to be fired in Short Range and Long Range modes to attain various range capabilities.
