Explain briefly about the forest resources in India with the distribution of different types. Mention some measures to conserve forests.
Introduction:
Forests are a major natural resource. They provide a variety of benefits for humans. The major forest products are timber softwood clearwood including charcoal. Most of the wood produced are commercially valuable such as teak mahogany Rosewood etc. Other than these forest produces grasses, bamboos and canes which are used for various purposes from cooking to making medicines.

Deforestation is a major problem which is causing ecological imbalance. To prevent the destruction of forests, we need to focus on sustainable development. Pollution should be controlled. Precautions should be taken so that forest fires does not occur. Activities like grazing of animals should be limited to specific areas. Human intervention with forests should be minimized & only upto certain particular extent.
