Security Concerns

About Doklam and Doklam Issue:
- Doklam, or Donglang, spans less than 100 sq km , is a trijunction area between India, Bhutan, and China.
- Surrounded by Tibet’s Chumbi Valley, Bhutan’s Ha Valley, and Sikkim.
- Strategically near the Siliguri Corridor, a crucial link between mainland India and the northeast.
- Also known as Chicken’s Neck, the corridor is a vulnerable point for India.
- The issue arose when in 2017 a standoff emerged between Indian and Chinese forces over Chinese construction in Doklam.
- Despite being recognized as Bhutanese by India and Bhutan, tensions escalated, leading to increased military presence and verbal sparring.
