- The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) annual report reveals 14,158 incidents of crimes against women in 2022, with an average of three rape cases daily.
Alarming Crime Categories:
- The city witnessed 1,204 reported rape cases, highlighting a severe concern for women’s safety.
- Other concerning figures include
- 3,909 cases of kidnapping or abduction of women,
- 129 dowry deaths, and
- 4,847 incidents of cruelty by husbands or relatives.
Police Challenges and Initiatives:
- In many cases of rape and assault, the victim and the accused are known to each other, making prevention challenging for the police.
