Union Minister Narayan Rane inaugurates ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ in Mumbai 

News: Narayan Rane, the Union Minister of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department, opened the Khadi Mahotsav, which is being held in Mumbai on Monday by Khadi and Village Industry (KVIC).

• In his speech, Narayan Rane praised the excellent work being done by the village and Khadi industries and noted their notable recent expansion.
• He mentioned how KVIC’s company turnover increased from thirty thousand crore rupees in 2014–15 to an astounding one hundred and thirty-four thousand crore rupees.
• He went on to say that the creative approaches that have been used over the last nine years are what have allowed for this amazing rise.
• The “Khadi Mahotsav” is scheduled to run through October 31st. It will include ‘Vocal for Local’ exhibitions to support indigenous items in addition to Khadi products.
• Customers can get discounts of 20 to 25 percent on Khadi products during this time. The festival also include a young jingle competition and a video game competition with topics related to the Khadi and village industries.

PM Modi lauds Jammu and Kashmir for achieving 100 percent villages ODF Plus status

News: In the Model category of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) phase-2, Jammu and Kashmir has achieved 100% Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus designation.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the state for this accomplishment. Mr. Modi stated on social media that this is a significant step in the direction of a better and cleaner India.

Vice President of The Dominican Republic, Raquel Peña Rodríguez to visit India from 3-5 October 

News: Raquel Peña Rodríguez, the vice president of the Dominican Republic, will be in India from October 3–5, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

• At her Indian counterpart Jagdeep Dhankhar invitation, the vice president of the Dominican Republic is scheduled to travel to India. The Dominican Republic’s vice president is making his maiden trip to India.
• The visit is noteworthy because it happens while the bilateral relationship between the Dominican Republic and India is about to reach its 25th year. According to an official notification from the MEA, diplomatic ties between the two nations were established on May 4, 1999.
• India’s major ally in the Caribbean and Latin America is the Dominican Republic. The release further stated that the vice president’s visit to the Dominican Republic occurs soon after that of Dr. S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, who visited the nation in April 2023.
