SeamlessM4T
News: Recently, ‘SeamlessM4T,’ a powerful multilingual multimodal AI translation and transcription model, was introduced by Meta, the technology business formerly known as Facebook.
- Massively Multilingual and Multimodal Machine Translation, or SeamlessM4T, is a cutting-edge multilingual and multimodal AI translation and transcription paradigm.
- It was created by Meta, the erstwhile Facebook-affiliated tech firm. Text-to-speech, text-to-text, and speech-to-text translations are just a few of the jobs that SeamlessM4T can complete.
SeamlessM4T offers the following support
- Recognizing speech in almost 100 languages;
- Translation from speech to text in about 100 input and output languages;
- Speech-to-speech translation, which supports 36 (including English) input languages and approximately 100 input languages;
- Translation from text to text in about 100 languages;
- Text-to-speech translation with support for 35 (including English) output languages and almost 100 input languages
Metaverse
- The metaverse is a digital extension of our physical reality that offers a multiuser, immersive experience to anyone accessing it from anywhere in the world.
- The Internet and digital devices are needed in order to access this virtual world. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are the technical terms for this.
- Due to the country’s sizable young population, which is well-versed in digital interactions and entertainment, Digital India is growing more quickly.
- The operational difficulty of creating the metaverse still exists even though India appears to have the technical, demographic, and policy basis for it.
What Uses Does the Metaverse Serve?
- E-commerce: By bridging the gap between the real world and the virtual one, the metaverse can combine online and offline trade. This implies that consumers will be able to virtually experience the real world through the metaverse, making online buying more practical.
- Enhancing Skills: Because of its potential for creating novel experiential learning scenarios, metaverse has the potential to significantly contribute to skill enhancement remotely.
- Virtual tourism: With the 360° virtual tour, viewers can virtually visit the selected destination in addition to seeing it being recorded there with lifelike effects. For instance, the “Try before you Fly” virtual reality vacation program enables would-be travelers to virtually travel to their desired locations.
- Education & Learning: The benefits of Metaverse in combination with VR have elevated the learning experience to a new, high standard. Enhanced and superior information materials are now available for students to use while watching live experiments.
- Healthcare: Patients and doctors can communicate in virtual, three-dimensional clinics thanks to the telemedicine and telehealth concept, which was inspired by the post-pandemic Metaverse.
Methanotrophs : Recent Study
News: According to a recent study, the Methylotuvimicrobium buryatense 5GB1C a Methanotroph may be able to absorb methane from significant emission sources.
- Gram-negative bacteria known as methanotrophs are a varied group that are connected to other Proteobacteria species. Under both oxic and anoxic environments, methanotrophic microbes oxidize methane to produce energy.
- When the methane concentration is between 5,000 and 10,000 parts per million (ppm), they thrive. The bacterial strain Methylotuvimicrobium buryatense 5GB1C consumes methane, which has an explosive power over carbon dioxide (CO2) of over 85 times.
- At 500 ppm, this bacteria performed at its best. Additional research revealed that this strain continued to grow effectively at 200 ppm. It can thrive in environments with low methane levels of 200 to 1,000 ppm. This strain is a strong contender for methane removal technology because of these characteristics.
- After eating methane, bacteria make biomass. In aquaculture, this biomass can be used as food. The bacteria can produce 0.78 tonnes of dry-weight methane for every tonne of methane they consume.

Lunar Polar Exploration Mission (LUPEX) : India And Japan
News: The Lunar Polar Exploration Mission (LUPEX) is being carried out in collaboration by the space agencies of India and Japan.
- The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are working together on the Lunar Polar Exploration Mission (LUPEX).
- In 2025, the mission is expected to take off. A rover and lander will be used by LUPEX to investigate the viability of setting up a base on the Moon, the presence of water ice, and surface exploration technology.
- The rover and lander are being developed by JAXA and ISRO, respectively. Along with instruments from ISRO and JAXA, the rover will also have equipment from NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA).
Instruments that could be on board LUPEX
Multiple equipment have been proposed for the LUPEX mission by the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an autonomous division of the Department of Space located in Ahmedabad, primarily to conduct measurements on the surface and subsurface close to the permanently shadowed polar area of the Moon.
