1. Prime Minister Modi Attends the 26th SCO Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit. He will address the leaders of the grouping and hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
2. India–Uzbekistan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
India and Uzbekistan elevated their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two countries signed 11 agreements covering uranium, critical minerals, trade, defence, digital payments, education and cultural cooperation.
3. Indian Standard Time Made Mandatory
The Central Government notified the Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2026. The rules make Indian Standard Time the mandatory official time reference for legal, administrative and commercial activities across India.
4. ISRO to Launch EOS-05
ISRO will launch the EOS-05 satellite, also known as GISAT-1A, aboard the GSLV-F17 from Sriharikota. It will support frequent Earth imaging, weather forecasting, disaster monitoring, environmental observation and national security.
5. NASA Launches Roman Space Telescope
NASA launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope aboard a Falcon Heavy rocket towards the Sun–Earth L2 point. The telescope will study dark energy, dark matter, exoplanets and infrared astronomy.
6. India Expected to Maintain 7% Growth
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that India is likely to maintain an economic growth rate of 7% or more during FY 2026–27. This growth is expected despite geopolitical uncertainties and global supply-chain disruptions.
7. Uniform Standards for Mortuaries
India finalised its first uniform minimum standards for mortuary and post-mortem infrastructure. The standards cover public and private hospitals under the National Council for Clinical Establishments and aim to improve hygiene, safety, documentation and the dignified handling of deceased persons.
