Heritage Protection: India’s First Petroglyph Conservation Park

Marking World Heritage Day (April 18), India has launched its first Petroglyph Conservation Park in Ladakh under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Archaeological Survey of India.
The initiative aims to preserve prehistoric rock carvings along the Indus River, establishing a crucial link between Ladakh’s Neolithic cultural assets and the conservation standards of UNESCO. This represents a significant step in safeguarding intangible archaeological heritage.
