About All-India DG-IG conference :
- The All-India DG-IG conference, an annual event, aims to share best practices related to internal security, crime, and law and order challenges among state police and central agencies.
- Hosted by: Intelligence Bureau at Rajasthan International Centre.
- The participants includes DGs from state police departments, intelligence agencies, and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
- The conference has been organised outside the national capital since 2014.
About Intelligence Bureau (IB)
Internal intelligence agency of India, involved in gathering intelligence, counter-intelligence, and counter-terrorism tasks within the country. Specialized Border Intelligence: · IB tasked with intelligence collection in border areas, following the 1951 Himmatsinhji Committee’s recommendations. · Originally, military intelligence organizations handled this responsibility before India’s independence in 1947. Administrative Control and Confidentiality: · Comes under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs. · IB activities are highly confidential, with internal publications being the only source revealing their operations. Additional Functions: · Shares intelligence information with other Indian intelligence agencies and police. · Grants safety clearances to Indian diplomats and judges before their national oath. · Authorized to carry out wiretapping without a warrant. Composition: · Comprises employees from law enforcement agencies, mainly from the Indian Police Service (IPS) or the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), and the military. · The Director of Intelligence Bureau (DIB) has traditionally been an IPS officer. |
