About the Divergent Estimates on Cotton Production:
- The Committee on Cotton Production and Consumption (COCPC) predicts cotton output for the current season to be 323 lakh bales, with exports reaching 27 lakh bales.
- However, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) suggests a lower production estimate of 309 lakh bales, citing expected lower output in Telangana compared to COCPC’s projections.
- CAI President Atul Ganatra attributes the disparity to data from the Telangana ginners association, indicating that Telangana’s production is higher than last year but not as high as COCPC’s estimate.
