CIVIL SERVICE ASPIRANTS VOICE OUT ON THE UNION BUDGET FY 2023-24

On the 6th February, 2023 the Student Council of the Universal Group of Institutions, Bangalore organised a discussion on Union Budget FY 2023-24 that was placed by the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Ms. NIRMALA SITHARAMAN in Parliament on the first day of February; before the beginning of new financial year in April.

There were almost seventeen young civil service aspirants highlighting the prospects of the budget allotment. They identified that budget holds an extreme potential in spurring India’s economic growth and social development. The emphasis given on capital expenditure, vis-à-vis on infrastructure and investment, the revenue expenditure corroborating the societal models, catering to a new world by promoting green growth, also incorporating a new tax regime;  proposing the increase in the array of the expenditure has been designed with a long term vision.

The students have also identified various shortcomings of the budget. They have pointed out the budget allocation of 2.9% of GDP to the educational sector, despite the recommendation of the National Educational Policy to allocate 6 % of the GDP.

Students urged for the youth participation to achieve the vision of “Amrit Kaal”; focusing on the youth, growth and job creation, strong and stable macroeconomic environment which would improve the ease of doing business for the recovery and strengthen the economy.
