CENTRE TO ROPE IN ISRO TO PROVIDE INTERNET IN 80 REMOTE TRIBAL VILLAGES
Why in the news?
- Innovative collaboration between the Tribal Affairs Ministry and ISRO aims to provide Internet access to remote tribal villages.
- Aim is to provide Internet services to these underserved areas, enhancing connectivity for development.
Key Highlights of the collaboration:
- ISRO chief S. Somnath confirms collaboration with the Ministry, signing an MoU soon for pilot connectivity.
- Additional projects discussed include partnerships with AIIMS Delhi for tribal health research and IIT Delhi for technology and entrepreneurship development.
- Proposal with IISc Bengaluru for semiconductor courses for tribal students also discussed.
