Inter-State River Water Disputes in India

·    Inter-State River Water Disputes pose significant challenges within Indian federalism.

·    Examples include the Krishna Water Dispute, Cauvery Water Dispute, and Satluj Yamuna Link Canal issue.

Constitutional Provisions:

·    State List (Entry 17) covers water-related matters, while Union List (Entry 56) empowers the Union Government to regulate inter-state rivers.

·    Article 262 allows Parliament to adjudicate disputes over inter-state river waters and prohibits judicial intervention.
