Cabinet Launches Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan

- The Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan with a budget of 79,156 crore.
- Aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities in 63,000 villages across 549 districts.
- Focus on tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts in 30 States/UTs, benefiting over 5 crore tribal people.
Key Goals of the Mission:
- Enabling Infrastructure:
- Pucca houses for eligible tribal households, along with access to tapped water, electricity, and Ayushman Bharat cards.
- Focus on village infrastructure, ensuring road connectivity, mobile network, and access to health, education, and nutrition facilities.
- Economic Empowerment:
- Skill development programs for ST youth and entrepreneurship promotion through skill training and agriculture support.
- Marketing support for tribal products through Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centres.
- Universal Education and Health:
- Increase school and higher education enrolment for ST students and set up tribal hostels.
- Provide mobile medical units in remote tribal areas to enhance access to healthcare.
Monitoring and Implementation
- The program involves 17 ministries and focuses on convergence across government schemes.
- Progress will be tracked using the PM Gati Shakti Portal, with the best-performing districts
