Bisphenol A

News: According to a recent study done in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Bisphenol A may indirectly contribute to the spread of diseases that are transmitted to humans and animals via vectors.

The study demonstrates that the synthetic chemical Bisphenol A can drastically reduce the time that southern house mosquitoes spend breeding (Culex quinquefasciatus).

This mosquito contributes to the rapid spread of the West Nile virus, Rift Valley fever virus, and avian pox in tropical and subtropical regions.

Chemicals like bisphenol A (BPA) are typically combined with other compounds to create polymers and resins.

It is created when phenol and acetone condense.

Certain types of beverage containers, compact discs, plastic dinnerware, impact-resistant safety gear, auto parts, and toys are all made of this type of plastic.

Usually, BPA works on the hormonal level by disrupting hormonal balance and producing estrogenic effects through interacting with estrogen-related receptors (ERR).
