Bachelor of Arts (BA) is an undergraduate degree course with duration of 4 years. It is comprised of many expressive disciplines and offers various subject combinations to students to select apart from certain compulsory subjects. These subjects include Liberal Arts, Science or both and their combinations are prescribed in the syllabus.
Candidates pursuing BA course have the option of choosing major and minor subjects: History, Economics, Political Science & Geography.

Choosing Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) as their UPSC Mains Optional subject is helpful in a way that while preparing for optionals, they will also be preparing for prelims. Political Science is more of non-technical nature because of which the aspirants can easily comprehend and study this subject even if they don’t have strong political science background.
