Art of Mind, Management and Emotional Balance

Taking learning beyond the boundaries, ensuring value addition for learning, and providing exposure to the students regarding the unconventional approaches to mind and mental health, the Students’ Grievance Redressal Cell of Universal Group of Institutions organized a talk on “Art of Mind, Management and Emotional Balance” by Dr. Ganesh Kumar JAssistant Professor, Christ (Deemed to be University) on 25th August 2022. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by Sripriya M. The speaker was formally greeted and welcomed by the Mr. Vishwas Puttaswamy, Principal (Universal Group of Institutions); Mr. Keshava Neera, Principal (UPSC) and Mr. Santhosh Shetty J, Administrator.

The pursuit of mental health has always been misinterpreted by people. Dr. Ganesh Kumar J began the session with a discussion on mind, emotion and consciousness that helped the students understand the perception of different mental health issues and their causes. He further spoke on the poor awareness about the symptoms of mental illness, myths and stigma related to it. The speaker also provided insights on signs of distress, especially among students as well as sparked a discussion among students by pointing out examples from their daily life. Moreover, he also briefed us on the levels and structure of the mind, which helped in a better understanding of our actions and behavior. The speaker also threw some light on coping strategies to prevent distress with an elaborate discussion on how to help people in distress.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Pearl Rebello. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Athira P (Asst. Professor- Dept. of English) and Ms. Kavya Shetty (Asst. Professor- Dept of Commerce).
