RAGGING in any form is PUNISHABLE.
Ragging is a criminal offence as per the Karnataka Educational Act 1983 and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Universal Group of Institutions administration believes that ragging lowers the standards of education and thus ensures strict compliance on the prevention of Ragging in any form.
Administrative Role and Responsibilities against Ragging
Depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, to those found guilty, one or more of the following can be executed:
- Suspension from attending classes and other academic privileges
- Withholding results/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
- Debarred from all Examinations/ Tests.
- Debarred from representing the institution in any regional, national or International meets tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Cancellation of admission
- Rusticated from the institution for a time period ranging from 1-4 semesters
- Mandatory counselling for the indulged student with constant monitoring.

- Constitution of Anti-Ragging committee and Anti-ragging squad
- Conducting orientation programs to create awareness.
- Anti-ragging poster making the competition
- Meaningful posters displaying provisions for law and punishments.

Cases/incidents of Ragging to be of reported immediately to the anti-ragging committee of the institute. Strict action as per the act, rules, and regulations will be taken against the defaulters.”
