About Monsoon Croaks Bioblitz 2024:

  • Organized by the Centre for Citizen Science and Biodiversity Informatics, Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI).
  • Aims :to document frog species in Kerala during the monsoon season, lasting from June 1 to September 30.
  • The project addresses the threats faced by frogs due to climate change, habitat loss, and pollution, with 41% of global frog species listed as endangered by the IUCN.
What is an iNaturalist?

  • iNaturalist: online social network for sharing biodiversity information.
  • Crowdsourced species identification system.
  • Organism occurrence recording tool.
  • Record observations, seek identifications, collaborate, and access data collected by users.

About  iNaturalist app :

  • Use iNaturalist app (Android/iOS) to photograph natural flora/fauna.
  • AI suggests species name; community confirms.
