Agni Prime Missile : Successfully Tested
News: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted successful flight tests of the New Generation Ballistic Missile “Agni Prime” from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island.
A short-range ballistic missile with a range of 1000 km to 1500 km is called the Agni Prime Missile.
It is a surface-to-surface missile that is capable of transporting a nuclear warhead or a payload weighing about 1,000 kg.
It includes updated navigation and guidance technologies in addition to improved propulsion systems and composite rocket motor casings.
Direct entry into the earth’s upper atmosphere is made by ballistic missiles.
The warhead separates from the missile as it exits the atmosphere and falls towards a pre-planned target.
They are self-guided rocket-propelled weapons systems that can fire both conventional and nuclear munitions.
They can be launched from land, sea, and air vehicles.
